Suzannah the mom

Yes, yes, yes…it’s been like a year.  I know.  It just happens that my oldest is busily packing for a Boy Scout campout, the middle one is playing at a friend’s house and the youngest is happily playing in his crib after his nap.  So I might have just a few minutes to type something.

Fifteen Years Years Ago, Today

In the “Little Theater,” on the campus of Harding University, Jimmy Allen told me to love Suzannah as Christ loved mankind. That means, he said with a tremble in his voice, you be ready to take a bullet for her. We pledged to love, honor, and cherish. Then, an acappella quartet sang […]

New Beginnings (Whew! That was close.)

My problem is I know just enough about what I'm doing here to get myself in trouble. But, I finally unbroke the blog. Glad to be back. Pardon the dust while I finish customizing this new theme. In the meantime, gaze on this, the newest edition to the family.

Yes, we’re still here…

I keep thinking either Mr. Ex or I will take the time to write something witty but it seems that other things keep coming up. We had a wonderful Christmas vacation with family. Then we came home and started rearranging the rooms of our house to accommodate a new arrival. Then we […]

I guess they really aren’t there to socialize

I find this article interesting in a couple of different ways. A private school in Rhode Island has decided that talking will not be allowed in the cafeteria at lunchtime. Their reasoning is that there have been recent choking incidents and teachers cannot hear a child in distress if the lunchroom is loud.

[air quote] Lasers! [air quote]

Hey everyone. Sorry we haven’t posted in such a long time. Mr. Ex has been busy at work & I’ve been busy homeschooling.

I thought this was an interesting article:

China has secretly fired powerful laser weapons designed to disable American spy satellites by “blinding” their sensitive surveillance devices, it was reported yesterday.

9/11 Children’s Book

I’d like to share a book that we discovered about a year after 9/11/01 called Fireboat. It’s the true story of an old fireboat commissioned in 1931. It saw the construction of the George Washington Bridge and Empire State Building. By 2001 it was very old and was destined for the scrapyard. But on 9/11 […]

Five Years Later

Mr. Ex gave his account of 9/11/01 last year. Here’s mine:

We overslept so I didn’t follow the usual routine of turning on the radio and listening over breakfast. Mr. Ex called me from the car on the way to work about the first plane. My first thought was “That must have been […]

Steve Irwin, RIP

We awoke this morning to the news that Steve Irwin, founder of Australia Zoo and television personality, has died. Our son has been a huge fan of the “Crocodile Hunter” for several years and one day hopes to go to Australia and to Australia Zoo.

What can you say about this exuberant man? […]

Let’s hear it for lard!

Now they’ve determined that real butter is better than margarine, dark chocolate is good for you and pure lard is better than vegetable oil. So it’s only a matter of time before I can enjoy McDonald’s & Krispy Kreme without any guilt?

Next January, food manufacturers will be required to list trans fat […]
