Five Years Later: Americans Trapped in Saudi Arabia

The intro runs about 30-seconds before the sound starts. So be patient (or skip forward); it’s working.

Too few people saw this video back when it was made, before YouTube and Google video became what they are. It used to be available on the House Committee’s website, until a new Chairman took it down back in 2003. It’s about the plight of American women and children who cannot leave Saudi Arabia because of our own government’s indifference and deference to Sharia law. Among other victims, this video tells the story of an American woman seeking refuge with her American citizen children. Stated Department officials had the Marines forcibly remove them from the U.S. Embassy.

Since you probably didn’t see it back then, and the five-year anniversary is upon us, it’s worth taking the time to watch it now, say a prayer, and think about the fate of your fellow Americans. Some sort of update might be nice. The State Department website still says that it cannot “help a parent violate host country laws” or “give refuge to a parent involved in a re-abduction.” I think they mean will not.

There was no follow-up from Tom Davis, when he took over. There has been no follow-up from the media. Now, Henry Waxman is pursuing a partisan agenda. At least the Democrat-controlled House got one thing right, but it’s not tied to bringing Americans home. There should be no more visas for Saudi students, no visas for Saudi diplomats, in fact no visas for Saudis at all — not until all our women and children are returned.

RELATED: Meanwhile, in another “moral universe,” the President of the United States re-dedicated a Saudi-funded Islamic center here in D.C. today. His waxing poetic about “friendship and respect” was a bit much for Dymphna to take. Me too.

One of these days, the West will have to fully come to grips with what it is facing. As I write, the Glasgow airport’s main terminal is burning. I have a feeling this wasn’t some disgruntled Highlander still angry over Glencoe.
