Early and Often

Kathryn Jean Lopez posts an interesting item today on The Corner. It’s a question addressed to Planned Parenthood on their “Teenwire” regarding a second abortion:

Your Question:

Dear Experts:

I had an abortion a little over a month ago and now I’m pregnant again. What are the risks of having a second abortion?

Leann7123

The Answer: Dear Leann7123,

Abortion is a very safe procedure. It’s about twice as safe as having tonsils removed, and is much safer than giving birth.

The risks for the second abortion are generally the same as for the first, if they are both performed at the same stage of pregnancy. There is no evidence that having more than one abortion causes any health problems.

However, the risks increase the longer a pregnancy goes on. That’s why the most important thing is not to delay the abortion procedure. Generally, the earlier the abortion, the safer it is.

The need for abortion can be prevented by proper use of birth control. Call 1-800-230-PLAN for information about birth control and abortion services at your nearest Planned Parenthood.

Hope this information helps!

Take care,

Is this really the best advice they can give a young girl who obviously needs counseling on a more personal level?

It’s more than a little frightening to think that teenage girls are reading this stuff and asking for advice on these kinds of issues from magazine staff . Reading something like this scares me as far as what advice my own daughter might have to deal with from friends when she gets older and to see how Satan is using media to keep people further from God’s Word.

As a parent who has experienced the death of a son, this angers me.

I guess this is the sort of advice one gives when they have an agenda that is shaped neither by God nor by the best interest of this girl.
