Explosives found in Bradford, TN (Gibson County)

From the Jackson Sun:

“Very devastating” is how Bradford Police Chief Ollie Bond described the amount of damage that could have been done by explosive materials found behind a building on Old U.S. 45 East Thursday morning. Bond said police were still searching for the owner of the material Thursday afternoon.

I have no way of knowing whether this is related to terrorism or is just your local, run-of-the-mill, disgruntled postal worker but it is quite disturbing in any event.

There’s another item from a terrorism watch site here. I do not know how reliable its sources are but it includes a detail about churches being targeted. Is this making the mainstream news outside of West Tennessee?

    The tragedy of 9/11 so overwhelmingly shadowed the Oklahoma City bombing of the federal building, that we can easily forget that a terrorist can just as easily be a naturalized citizen. But lest we forget, Tim McViegh and the Unibomber remind us that even our neighbors are capable of terrorism and murder (which should be really unsettling).

    Wow! Bradford is about the size of a dot. Unfortunately it’s also where the tornado in the spring did some of its greatest damage and a family of four died when the tornado hit their home. I’ll be looking at this story more closely.
