Ongoing War
This Ongoing War is usually interesting and informative and I would encourage everyone to check-in there on a regular basis. The last few posts have prompted me to mention them specifically.
First, Hezbollah has it’s own youth program. The only requirement for 10-15 year olds recruited for the “Mahdi Scouts” is that they be willing to become suhada or “martyrs” for Islam. I take offense at the translation of shahid as martyr because the Christian understanding of a martyr is so completely foriegn to the Islamic one.
And secondly, Why on earth did Mahmoud Abbas refer to the rockets continuing to fall on Israel on a near daily basis as pipes? Did you know that rockets are still being launched on Israel? The ceasefire with Hezbollah had nothing to do with the Palestinian militants lobbing Qassams from the Gaza Strip.

The “Ongoing War” blog which you refer to says this on the header: “Jihadism will end in Israel… …only after people first understand the scale on which it’s happening”
They are wrong though. Without defending the very wrong actions of radical Islamists, jihadism will only end when Israel stops occupying land that was no longer theirs and stops their own campaign of violence.

I’ve got news for you Rex, Jihadism won’t end until Islam has a massive reformation or until it (Jihadism, that is) achieves its goals: (1) the extermination of the Jews and (2) the worldwide subjugation of all non-Islamic people.
Why are you so anxious for the Jews to leave Israel? Where would you have them go? Doesn’t it count for anything that Jews have prayed facing Jerusalem for thousands of years? What makes you think they have no claim to that land?
As, I’ve said before, I would probably have opposed the creation of a Jewish state in Israel in 1947, but a generation has passed and too much blood has been shed. It’s time for Israel’s enemies to grow up and get over it. Accept that there is and will continue to be a Jewish state there for the foreseeable future.

“Doesn’t it count for anything that Jews have prayed facing Jerusalem for thousands of years?”
And yet they must maintain their existance by human force. What if God is saying “no” to their prayers?
“but a generation has passed and too much blood has been shed. It’s time for Israel’s enemies to grow up and get over it.”
Or it is time for Israel to grow up and give it up for the sake of world peace.
Question: If five boys are fighting over a ball that one boys presently has even though it was never his ball to begin with, do you settle the problem by telling the five boys to get over it or do you tell the one boy to give back what was never his?
If the U.S. would ever figure this out, they would go along way to bring some long sought world peace. But of course, it seems that the premillenial doctrine has had an influence on Capitol Hill.
